There is no second way into the Oetztal, so a road closure or a heavy snowfall does not slow a delivery down, it stops it. Movers who work the valley build slack into winter schedules as a matter of course.
Serving international removals, relocation and shipping to Tyrol from anywhere in the UK. Sölden is about 1,250 km from London, forty kilometres up the Ötztal. A dedicated vehicle takes two to four days, a shared load five to nine. Most moves land between £950 and £5,920. Altitude and a single valley road are what shape the quote. We match you with one vetted moving company for your route, free.
Sölden removals are defined by one road. The village of about 3,000 sits at roughly 1,370 metres, forty kilometres up a single valley off the Inn, and everything that arrives has to come the same way.
That matters more than the distance does. There is no alternative route into the Ötztal, so a road closure or a bad snowfall does not slow a delivery down, it stops it. Movers who work the valley build slack into winter schedules as a matter of course, and a quote that promises a firm winter date without qualification is a quote to question.
Sölden also sits higher than most Austrian resorts, with slopes running to well over 3,000 metres and the Ötztal Glacier Road climbing to 2,830 metres, the second highest paved road in Europe. Household goods do not go up there, but it explains why the season here starts earlier and runs later than in the lower valleys.
The route leaves the A12 Inntal motorway near Ötztal Bahnhof and runs south up the valley. The lower stretch is straightforward; the road climbs steadily from Umhausen onwards and narrows in places, so a full-size lorry manages it but not quickly.
Beyond Sölden the valley continues to Zwieselstein at 1,450 metres and Vent at 1,900, and those addresses need a smaller vehicle. Hochsölden above the village is higher again and reached by a steep spur road that most loaded lorries will not attempt.
Two service types cover almost every move on this route. A shared load puts your goods on a vehicle with other customers' belongings, and you pay only for the space you use. A dedicated vehicle carries your household alone and runs to your date. The right choice is usually decided by how firm your dates are, not by how much you are shipping.
Sölden movers, Sölden removals and a removal to Sölden all describe one job: a European removal by road, priced on volume and distance. Altitude is what separates the removal services here. Ask what happens if the valley road closes, because at some point in the winter it will.
Most household moves here land between £950 and £5,920. These are planning ranges, not quotes. Sölden benchmarks with St Anton rather than with the valley towns, despite being no further from the UK. Forty kilometres up a single climbing valley, restricted season parking and steep spur roads all price into the final leg.
| Move size | Roughly | Planning range |
|---|---|---|
| Boxes and a few items | 1 to 3 m³ | £790 to £1,120 |
| Seasonal worker move | about 5 m³ | £950 to £1,470 |
| Apartment contents | about 10 m³ | £1,420 to £2,160 |
| Two bedroom part load | about 15 m³ | £2,160 to £3,260 |
| Full property dedicated | about 30 m³ | £3,760 to £5,920 |
Scottish and Northern Irish collections add roughly 10 per cent, because of the extra distance to the Channel crossing. Stairs, lifts, parking, packing and temporary holding all move the final figure.

Your mover handles the customs entry into the city. What you handle is the address registration it depends on. The customs checklist has the deadline and the form.
Sölden itself is strung along the valley floor and the main street takes a full-size vehicle, though parking during the season is genuinely difficult and a delivery slot needs arranging rather than assuming.
The apartment blocks and hotels either side of the river are mostly modern with lift access. The chalets on the slopes are the problem, reached by steep spur roads where gradient and turning space rule out anything large.
Winter runs long here. Austrian commercial winter tyre rules apply from November to mid-April, chains are frequently needed above the village, and at this altitude the season starts earlier and finishes later than the rule dates suggest. May and October are the sensible delivery windows.
Almost never. Hiring a removal van and driving there yourself looks cheap until you add fuel, the Channel crossing, German and Austrian tolls, the motorway Vignette, overnight stops and one way hire fees. You also carry the customs declaration alone. A shared load with a professional removal company is usually cheaper and far simpler.
As a planning guide, a 5 cubic metre shared load to Sölden runs about 950 to 1,470 pounds, a 15 cubic metre part load about 2,160 to 3,260 pounds, and a 30 cubic metre dedicated vehicle about 3,760 to 5,920 pounds. Ranges are compiled from published 2026 competitor route rates. Collections in Scotland and Northern Ireland typically add around 10 per cent.
Under about two cubic metres with no furniture, a pallet or box courier is usually cheaper and we would say so. Above that, or as soon as furniture is involved, a shared load with a proper crew wins on both price and handling.
The usual answer in Austria is an external hoist through a window, which is routine practice here. It needs street space, so a parking permit is normally arranged days ahead. In protected town centres conservation rules can prohibit fixing anything to a facade, in which case the item goes up the stairwell or does not go.
Two bases exist and they are not comparable. Limited liability is priced by weight and rarely matches what a household is worth. All risks cover is based on declared replacement value. Ask which you have been quoted, what the single item limit is, and what the excess is.
Ship less, and be flexible on dates. Volume is the largest cost driver and a collection week rather than a collection day is usually worth thirty to forty per cent against a dedicated vehicle. Decluttering before the survey, not after, is what moves the number.
The delivery waits. There is no alternative route into the Ötztal, so a closure is not a delay of hours but of a day or more. This is why winter dates into Sölden should be booked with slack rather than to the day, and why it is worth asking a mover directly what their contingency is. A firm winter guarantee without qualification is not a good sign.
On the valley floor, usually yes. On the slopes above the village and up towards Hochsölden, often not. The spur roads are steep with limited turning space, so goods transfer to a smaller vehicle for the final climb. Send a photograph of the approach with your enquiry and the stage can be priced properly rather than added on the day.
