The Zillertal is one of the busiest airport transfer routes in the country. On a winter Saturday the valley road carries heavy coach traffic between Innsbruck and the resorts, and a delivery booked into that can lose hours sitting in it.
Serving international removals, relocation and shipping to Tyrol from anywhere in the UK. Mayrhofen is about 1,180 km from London, at the head of the Zillertal. A dedicated vehicle takes two to three days, a shared load five to nine. Most moves land between £930 and £5,850. The valley road is flat, but weekend transfer traffic can add hours. We match you with one vetted moving company for your route, free.
Mayrhofen removals are easier than most Alpine jobs and harder than they look on a map. The village of about 3,900 sits at 630 metres at the head of the Ziller valley, and the valley floor is unusually flat for Tyrol, which helps considerably in bad weather.
What does not help is the traffic. The Zillertal is one of the busiest transfer routes in Austria because of its proximity to Innsbruck airport, and on a winter Saturday the valley road can be slow for hours. Movers who run the route regularly avoid weekends entirely, and it is worth asking whether yours does.
The audience here skews seasonal. Mayrhofen carries one of the larger British seasonal worker populations in Austria, arriving from late November and leaving in April, and the Hintertux glacier further up the Tux valley keeps a smaller year-round trade running through the summer.
The route runs to Strass at the mouth of the Ziller valley, off the A12 Inntal motorway, then thirty kilometres south along the flat valley floor. There is no pass, no tunnel toll and no serious climb until you leave the valley.
If your address is beyond Mayrhofen, up the Tux valley towards Lanersbach or Hintertux, the road narrows and climbs and a smaller vehicle is often needed for the last stage. Hippach and Finkenberg on the way up are straightforward.
Two service types cover almost every move on this route. A shared load puts your goods on a vehicle with other customers' belongings, and you pay only for the space you use. A dedicated vehicle carries your household alone and runs to your date. The right choice is usually decided by how firm your dates are, not by how much you are shipping.
Mayrhofen movers, Mayrhofen removals and a removal to Mayrhofen all mean the same job: a European removal by road, priced on volume and distance. The Zillertal is flatter and easier than most Tyrolean valleys, so the removal company question here is timing rather than terrain.
Most household moves here land between £930 and £5,850. These are planning ranges, not quotes. Mayrhofen prices below St Anton and Sölden on equivalent volumes, because the valley is flat, there is no section toll and the village sits at only 630 metres. It still carries a modest resort premium against a valley town like Wörgl.
| Move size | Roughly | Planning range |
|---|---|---|
| Boxes and a few items | 1 to 3 m³ | £770 to £1,100 |
| Seasonal worker move | about 5 m³ | £930 to £1,450 |
| Apartment contents | about 10 m³ | £1,400 to £2,120 |
| Two bedroom part load | about 15 m³ | £2,120 to £3,200 |
| Full property dedicated | about 30 m³ | £3,700 to £5,850 |
Scottish and Northern Irish collections add roughly 10 per cent, because of the extra distance to the Channel crossing. Stairs, lifts, parking, packing and temporary holding all move the final figure.
Duty relief is the norm rather than the exception on a household move to Mayrhofen, provided the conditions are met. See the Austria customs checklist before you book storage.
Mayrhofen keeps main traffic out of the village centre, which is good for residents and awkward for deliveries. Buses and taxis dominate the streets that are open, so a delivery slot outside peak transfer times makes a real difference to how long the job takes.
Away from the centre the valley floor is genuinely easy. Streets are level, approaches are wide by Tyrolean standards and most modern apartment blocks have lifts and parking.
Winter is less severe here than at St Anton or Sölden because of the low altitude, but Austrian commercial winter tyre rules still apply from November to mid-April, and the Tux valley above the village behaves like any other Alpine road once it starts climbing.
Almost never. Hiring a removal van and driving there yourself looks cheap until you add fuel, the Channel crossing, German and Austrian tolls, the motorway Vignette, overnight stops and one way hire fees. You also carry the customs declaration alone. A shared load with a professional removal company is usually cheaper and far simpler.
The Zillertal road is a main airport transfer route. A midweek delivery slot can save hours on the day.
At 630 metres the village escapes the worst winter access problems. The Tux valley above it does not.

As a planning guide, a 5 cubic metre shared load to Mayrhofen runs about 930 to 1,450 pounds, a 15 cubic metre part load about 2,120 to 3,200 pounds, and a 30 cubic metre dedicated vehicle about 3,700 to 5,850 pounds. Ranges are compiled from published 2026 competitor route rates. Collections in Scotland and Northern Ireland typically add around 10 per cent.
They should on anything above about eight cubic metres, in person or by video. A price given without a survey is an estimate. Ask what happens if the volume is larger on the day: a stated rate per extra cubic metre is a good answer, sorting it out on the day is not.
Ask for the rate per extra cubic metre at quote stage. A surveyed quote should hold. An unsurveyed estimate will move, and the day of collection is a poor moment to negotiate. This is the main argument for a video survey on anything above eight cubic metres.

Yes, and it is usually quoted off the same run. Lanersbach, Vorderlanersbach and Hintertux all sit above Mayrhofen, and the road narrows and climbs as it goes. A transfer to a smaller vehicle for the final stage is common. Give the full address at quote stage rather than the nearest town.
