Graz sits south east of the Alps, so the route runs through Germany and down past Vienna or through Salzburg on the A9 Pyhrn motorway. That extra leg is why Graz prices slightly above Vienna on the same volume despite being a much smaller city.
It also sits closer to Ljubljana and Zagreb than to Munich, which matters if your move continues south. If the household is going on to Slovenia or Croatia afterwards, say so early, because a single vehicle doing both legs is cheaper than two jobs.

A dedicated vehicle carries your household alone and runs to your date. The right choice is usually decided by how firm your dates are, not by how much you are shipping.

Scottish and Northern Irish collections add roughly 10 per cent, because of the extra distance to the Channel crossing. Stairs, lifts, parking, packing and temporary holding all move the final figure.
Since Brexit the UK is a third country for customs, so a declaration is needed on every shipment even though nothing crosses an ocean. Used household goods normally clear duty free under Uebersiedlungsgut relief, which the mover handles as part of the job.
The relief expires. If your goods are still in UK storage more than twelve months after you registered your Austrian address, duty and 20 per cent VAT can become payable on the full value. If you are storing before shipping, say so at quote stage so the mover can plan around the deadline.
The Graz Altstadt is a UNESCO site and the streets around Hauptplatz were laid out for carts. Larger vehicles cannot get close to many addresses, so a shuttle van from a parking point is common. Ask whether that stage is inside the quoted price.
The Schlossberg rises straight out of the centre, and addresses on the slopes below it can involve steep approaches and tight turns. If your street climbs, mention it. It changes the vehicle the mover sends.
Student accommodation is the other pattern worth flagging. Purpose-built blocks in districts such as Geidorf and Lend usually have good access and a lift, but delivery windows are often restricted by the building management and need booking. A move that arrives without a slot booked can sit on the vehicle for a day.

Hiring a removal van and driving there yourself looks cheap until you add fuel, the Channel crossing, German and Austrian tolls, the motorway Vignette, overnight stops and one way hire fees. You also carry the customs declaration alone. A shared load with a professional removal company is usually cheaper and far simpler.
