The Arlberg Road Tunnel is a section toll charged separately from the Austrian motorway vignette, and the vignette does not cover it. The alternative is the Arlberg Pass over the top, which is slower and restricted for vehicles with trailers.
Serving international removals, relocation and shipping to Tyrol from anywhere in the UK. St Anton is about 1,200 km from London, reached through the Arlberg road tunnel. A dedicated vehicle takes two to four days, a shared load five to nine. Most moves land between £960 and £5,950. The tunnel toll and the winter tyre rules are real lines on the quote. We match you with one vetted moving company for your route, free.
St Anton removals are small in volume and awkward in every other respect. The village has only around 2,500 permanent residents but is one of the best known ski destinations in the Alps, which means most shipments here are apartment or chalet contents rather than full households.
Two audiences dominate. Seasonal staff arriving in November and leaving in April, usually with a van's worth of belongings and a fixed contract window. And property owners furnishing an apartment, where the shipment is larger and the access harder.
If yours is the second kind, check the property's designation before anything is booked. Tyrol caps recreational use of housing through the Freizeitwohnsitz system and enforcement in the Arlberg resorts is among the strictest in the province. The restriction attaches to the property rather than the buyer, and applies to Austrian and EU owners as well. We are not lawyers; check it against Land Tirol guidance.
The approach is the interesting part. St Anton sits at the eastern portal of the Arlberg Road Tunnel, at 13.97 kilometres Austria's longest road tunnel and unusually a single tube rather than two. Transit takes about ten minutes and the toll is a separate section charge, 13 euros in 2026, payable in addition to the standard motorway vignette rather than covered by it.
The alternative is the Arlberg Pass road over the top, which the tunnel replaced and which reopens when the tunnel closes for maintenance. Vehicles towing trailers face restrictions on the pass, so a mover routing that way needs to know in advance. Innsbruck is about 100 kilometres east.
Two service types cover almost every move on this route. A shared load puts your goods on a vehicle with other customers' belongings, and you pay only for the space you use. A dedicated vehicle carries your household alone and runs to your date. The right choice is usually decided by how firm your dates are, not by how much you are shipping.
St Anton movers, St Anton removals and a removal to St Anton describe one job, and you will also see the town written in full, so St Anton am Arlberg movers, St Anton am Arlberg removals and a removal to St Anton am Arlberg mean exactly the same service. It is a European removal by road, priced on volume and distance, with a tunnel toll and an altitude problem attached.
Most household moves here land between £960 and £5,950. These are planning ranges, not quotes. St Anton benchmarks above its distance would suggest. The Arlberg section toll, the altitude and the restricted centre all price into the final leg rather than the mileage. Against an Austrian mean of about £1,071 for 5 cubic metres, expect the resort premium in the middle and upper bands.
| Move size | Roughly | Planning range |
|---|---|---|
| Boxes and a few items | 1 to 3 m³ | £790 to £1,130 |
| Seasonal worker move | about 5 m³ | £960 to £1,490 |
| Apartment contents | about 10 m³ | £1,430 to £2,170 |
| Small chalet part load | about 15 m³ | £2,170 to £3,280 |
| Full chalet dedicated | about 30 m³ | £3,780 to £5,950 |
Scottish and Northern Irish collections add roughly 10 per cent, because of the extra distance to the Channel crossing. Stairs, lifts, parking, packing and temporary holding all move the final figure.

The paperwork side of a St Anton move is a short list with one trap in it, the registration deadline. The customs checklist explains it, and your matched mover lodges the entry.
The village centre is partly car-free, built around the site of the old railway station, which is pleasant to walk through and unhelpful for a lorry. Deliveries into the middle of the village are normally a shuttle from a parking point outside the restricted area.
Nasserein and the outlying parts have better vehicle access, and chalets on the slopes above vary enormously. Gradient and turning space are the two things to confirm, because a loaded lorry will refuse approaches a car takes without noticing.
St Anton gets some of the heaviest snowfall in the Alps, and that is the point to plan around. Austrian winter tyre rules run 1 November to 15 April, snow chains are compulsory in winter road conditions, and a heavy fall can close an approach for a day. A February delivery here needs slack that a June one does not.
Almost never. Hiring a removal van and driving there yourself looks cheap until you add fuel, the Channel crossing, German and Austrian tolls, the motorway Vignette, overnight stops and one way hire fees. You also carry the customs declaration alone. A shared load with a professional removal company is usually cheaper and far simpler.
The Arlberg section charge is payable on top of the vignette, not instead of it. A quote that omits it is incomplete.
Austria uses the euro, so moving money is part of moving home. We have helped customers with currency exchange in any currency for many years, through trusted partners, and it is included in what we do. Mention it on the quote form and we will make the introduction.
As a planning guide, a 5 cubic metre shared load to St Anton runs about 960 to 1,490 pounds, a 15 cubic metre part load about 2,170 to 3,280 pounds, and a 30 cubic metre dedicated vehicle about 3,780 to 5,950 pounds. Ranges are compiled from published 2026 competitor route rates. Collections in Scotland and Northern Ireland typically add around 10 per cent.
Ten standard removal cartons is about one cubic metre, a three seat sofa about two, and a double bed with mattress about two and a half. A studio comes out near five cubic metres, a one bedroom around ten and a two bedroom around fifteen. Most people overestimate.
Normally yes, and it is usually better that they do, because their dismantling is covered by their insurance and your own generally is not. Flat pack is worth a separate thought: much of it does not survive a second rebuild, so weigh shipping against replacing it in St Anton.
Yes, and the wait is at the front rather than on the road. A dedicated vehicle leaves when you book it. A shared load leaves when the vehicle is full, which is why St Anton deliveries on a shared load commonly run five to nine days against two to four.
Around 25 pounds a week for a typical three bedroom load, varying by whether the goods sit in the UK or Austria. The weekly rate is rarely the whole cost, so ask about handling in and out separately, and confirm the insurance position while stored.
A vehicle is handled as a separate shipment from the household goods. You need a Grundlagenbescheid from a main Austrian customs office, the car must have been owned and used by you for at least six months, and registration triggers NoVA, the vehicle consumption tax. Tell the mover early.
Under about two cubic metres with no furniture, a pallet or box courier is usually cheaper and we would say so. Above that, or as soon as furniture is involved, a shared load with a proper crew wins on both price and handling.
Yes, if you use the tunnel. The Arlberg Road Tunnel is a section toll charged separately from the Austrian motorway vignette, 13 euros for a car in 2026, and the vignette does not cover it. The alternative is the Arlberg Pass over the top, which is free but slower and restricted for vehicles with trailers. Either way the charge should appear on your quote rather than as a surprise.
A shared load, and travel light. Seasonal moves are typically two to five cubic metres, which sits at the bottom of the range where you pay only for the space you use. Book the outbound leg for late October or early November before the season crowd, and ask about the return at the same time, because April is the busiest departure month in the Arlberg.
