The town sits on the A12 Inntal motorway where it meets the German A93 at Kiefersfelden. Every vehicle carrying household goods to Innsbruck, the Zillertal or the Arlberg comes through, which is why departure frequency here is unusually good.
Serving international removals, relocation and shipping to Tyrol from anywhere in the UK. Kufstein is about 1,120 km from London and the first Tyrolean town over the German border. A dedicated vehicle takes two to three days, a shared load four to eight. Most moves land between £830 and £5,350. Every Tyrol-bound vehicle passes it, which helps. We match you with one vetted moving company for your route, free.
Kufstein removals are among the most straightforward in Austria, and the reason is position. The town of about 19,500 sits on the Inn just inside the border from Bavaria, where the German motorway becomes the Austrian one.
That makes it the gateway to Tyrol. Every vehicle carrying household goods to Innsbruck, the Zillertal, Kitzbühel or the Arlberg passes through, which means departure frequency here is as good as anywhere in western Austria and considerably better than the population would suggest.
The local economy is more industrial than Alpine. Riedel, the glassware manufacturer, has its home here, and the town supports engineering and manufacturing alongside tourism. Moves tend to be permanent relocations rather than second-home shipments, which makes the customs side simpler than in the resorts.
Kufstein sits directly on the A12 Inntal motorway where it meets the German A93 at Kiefersfelden, roughly 1,120 km from London. It is the shortest Tyrolean run and one of the shortest to anywhere in Austria.
Because the town is on the through route rather than off it, shared loads are easy to join and there is no detour to price. If your dates can flex by a few days you will almost certainly land on a vehicle already heading past.
Two service types cover almost every move on this route. A shared load puts your goods on a vehicle with other customers' belongings, and you pay only for the space you use. A dedicated vehicle carries your household alone and runs to your date. The right choice is usually decided by how firm your dates are, not by how much you are shipping.
Kufstein movers, Kufstein removals and a removal to Kufstein describe one job: a European removal by road, priced on volume and distance. Because every Tyrolean vehicle passes the town anyway, the removal company differences here are about scheduling flexibility rather than access.
Most household moves here land between £830 and £5,350. These are planning ranges, not quotes. Kufstein benchmarks at the lower end of the Austrian range because it is the first town over the border and there is no inland detour. Against the national mean of about £1,071 for 5 cubic metres, Kufstein should come in below it.
| Move size | Roughly | Planning range |
|---|---|---|
| Boxes and a few items | 1 to 3 m³ | £700 to £1,000 |
| Studio or one bedroom | about 5 m³ | £830 to £1,290 |
| One to two bedroom | about 10 m³ | £1,290 to £1,900 |
| Two bedroom part load | about 15 m³ | £1,950 to £2,920 |
| Three bedroom dedicated | about 30 m³ | £3,420 to £5,350 |
Scottish and Northern Irish collections add roughly 10 per cent, because of the extra distance to the Channel crossing. Stairs, lifts, parking, packing and temporary holding all move the final figure.
Send your collection postcode, the delivery address, your date and a rough inventory. One vetted moving company checks the route and comes back with a real figure. Free, and no obligation to book.
Used belongings normally enter free of duty, but only if the timings line up and your address registration is done. The customs checklist has the conditions in full.
Most of Kufstein sits on the flat valley floor, so vehicle access is generally good. Streets take a full-size lorry, parking is workable and the apartment stock is newer than in the historic Austrian centres.
The exception is the older quarter below the fortress. The Roemerhofgasse and the lanes climbing towards the Festung are narrow and steep, and a shuttle stage from a parking point is normal for addresses there.
One check worth making: villages immediately west of the town sit close to the German border, and Kiefersfelden and Oberaudorf are in Bavaria, not Austria. That is an entirely different customs job. Give the mover the country as well as the town.
Almost never. Hiring a removal van and driving there yourself looks cheap until you add fuel, the Channel crossing, German and Austrian tolls, the motorway Vignette, overnight stops and one way hire fees. You also carry the customs declaration alone. A shared load with a professional removal company is usually cheaper and far simpler.
Every vehicle bound for Innsbruck, the Zillertal or Kitzbühel passes through. Good frequency, short transit, low price.
As a planning guide, a 5 cubic metre shared load to Kufstein runs about 830 to 1,290 pounds, a 15 cubic metre part load about 1,950 to 2,920 pounds, and a 30 cubic metre dedicated vehicle about 3,420 to 5,350 pounds. Ranges are compiled from published 2026 competitor route rates. Collections in Scotland and Northern Ireland typically add around 10 per cent.

Marginally, yes. Kufstein is roughly 30 km closer to the UK and sits directly on the through route rather than further up the valley, so there is no detour to price. On a small shared load the difference is modest; on a 30 cubic metre dedicated vehicle it is worth a couple of hundred pounds.
Usually yes, and it is worth asking. Kufstein is the entry point for the whole of Tyrol, so vehicles arriving here are frequently continuing to Innsbruck, the Zillertal or Kitzbühel. If you have goods going to two addresses, one vehicle covering both is far cheaper than two separate jobs.
