Feldkirch removals are quick, cheap by Austrian standards, and carry one trap that catches people out. The town of about 35,000 is Vorarlberg's third city, sitting where the Ill valley meets the Rhine plain with Liechtenstein a few minutes to the south.
Cross-border working is the defining local pattern. Vaduz and Schaan are around ten kilometres away, the Swiss border is barely further, and Feldkirch has one of the highest concentrations of cross-border commuters in Austria. People live here and work in Liechtenstein or Switzerland, drawn by the wage difference and the short journey.
For a removal that matters in one specific way. Your residence is Austrian, so Austrian customs relief and the Austrian registration deadline apply, and the goods clear into Austria. Where you work is a separate question the mover has no part in. Problems arise when people describe the move as a Swiss one because that is where the job is.
Feldkirch is reached through southern Germany to Lindau and across the border, or up from Switzerland at Buchs, roughly 1,080 km from London. There is no Alpine pass on the route and no tunnel toll, which is why Vorarlberg prices at the bottom of the Austrian range.
The town is also the rail gateway to the Arlberg and the Montafon valley. If your final address is up the Montafon towards Schruns or Gaschurn, the Feldkirch leg is the easy part and the valley road is where the planning goes.

The Feldkirch old town is genuinely medieval, with arcaded walkways, a preserved street plan and the Schattenburg castle above it. Vehicle access is restricted and the arcades limit height as well as width, so a shuttle from a parking point is standard for centre addresses.
Outside the historic core the town is straightforward: newer apartment stock on the valley floor with lifts, parking and vehicle access to the door. If you have a choice of address and a large household, the difference between the two is worth real money.

Hiring a removal van and driving there yourself looks cheap until you add fuel, the Channel crossing, German and Austrian tolls, the motorway Vignette, overnight stops and one way hire fees. Vaduz and Schaan are a short drive. Many residents commute across a border to work, which is normal here and irrelevant to the customs entry.

Yes, and it is usually quoted off the same run. Schruns, Tschagguns and Gaschurn all sit up the Montafon from Feldkirch. The caution is the same as any Alpine valley: the road narrows, some village addresses cannot take a full-size lorry, and winter adds time. Give the full address at quote stage rather than the nearest town.
