Small shipments travel on the same shared vehicles as everything else, priced by the space they take. That means a box shipment there is not a niche service with a premium attached, it is the bottom of the normal price range.
The one thing worth doing properly is measuring. Ten standard removal cartons is about one cubic metre. Most people with a car boot's worth of belongings quote themselves at five and get a quote for five, when two would have done.

Uebersiedlungsgut relief assumes you are transferring your residence there. If you are going for a semester or a ski season and keeping a UK main residence, that is not a residence transfer, and the relief may not apply to your shipment.
In practice small student consignments rarely attract a bill, but do not assume it. Tell the mover how long you are staying and whether you are registering an Austrian address, because that determines which route the declaration takes.
