Almost everyone leaves in the same two weeks when the season closes. A seasonal worker trying to arrange a shipment home in the third week of April is competing with several thousand other people doing exactly the same thing.
Serving international removals, relocation and shipping between the UK and Austria. Season moves run in two waves: out in late October and November, back in April. Seasonal worker shipments are usually 2 to 5 cubic metres at £400 to £1,400. Chalet contents are larger and need an access check before a date is fixed.
We match you with one vetted moving company for your route, free. We are not a removal company and we are not a quote comparison service, so you get one mover, not ten sales calls.
Austrian resorts run on people who arrive in November and leave in April, and a good number of them are British. Chalet staff, instructors, bar and hotel workers, and the owners of the apartments and chalets they work in.
That produces a moving pattern found nowhere else there: two compressed windows, small volumes, tight timing and addresses that a full-size lorry often cannot reach. It is a genuine specialism, and it is worth asking whether a mover has done it before.
If you are shipping to a property you own rather than one you are working in, check the property's designation first. Tyrol and Salzburg both restrict recreational use of housing, and the quotas in the popular resorts are largely full. That is a conversation for your solicitor before it is a conversation about a lorry.
Send your collection town, the delivery address, move date and rough volume. One vetted moving company checks the route and comes back with a real figure.
Send your move detailsOutbound runs from late October to early December, with the crush in the fortnight either side of the first lifts opening. Book the outbound leg six to eight weeks ahead if you want a named date, and earlier for the Arlberg and Kitzbuehel.
The return is worse, because almost everyone leaves in the same two weeks in April when the season closes. Book the return when you book the outbound if you possibly can. A seasonal worker trying to arrange a shipment home in the third week of April is competing with several thousand other people doing the same thing.
Resort addresses price above their road distance because the final leg is charged on access. Chalet approach roads are often too tight or too steep for a loaded lorry, so goods transfer to a smaller vehicle at the valley floor. Village centres in St Anton, Soelden and Kitzbuehel are partly car-free with timed permits.
Winter compounds it. Commercial winter tyre rules run November to mid-April, chains are needed above many villages, and a heavy snowfall can close an approach road for a day. In Soelden there is no alternative route into the valley at all.
A seasonal worker shipment is small: two to five cubic metres of clothes, boots, a board or skis and the contents of a room. A shared load suits it, and the return leg matters as much as the outbound.
Furnishing a chalet or apartment is a different job entirely: larger volumes, more fragile items, and a property designation question sitting underneath it. Tyrol caps recreational-use housing through the Freizeitwohnsitz system and many resort municipalities have reached their quota. Confirm what the property is approved for before anything ships.

The euro is the currency, so moving money is part of moving home. We have helped customers with currency exchange in any currency for many years, through trusted partners, and it is included in what we do. Mention it on the quote form and we will make the introduction.

Six to eight weeks ahead for the outbound leg, and earlier for the Arlberg or Kitzbuehel. Arrange the April return at the same time. Almost everyone leaves the resorts in the same fortnight when the season closes, and a shipment arranged at short notice in late April is both hard to get and expensive.
Most run two to five cubic metres, which is about 400 to 1,400 pounds on a shared load. That covers clothes, boots, skis or a board and the contents of a room. Ask about the return leg at the same time, since booking both together is usually cheaper and always easier.
Because the final leg is priced on access, not mileage. Kitzbuehel is closer to the UK than Vienna, but chalet approach roads often cannot take a full-size lorry, so goods transfer to a smaller vehicle. In season, parking and village access get harder still.
On the valley floor usually, on the slopes often not. Gradient and turning space rule out an articulated vehicle at many resort addresses. Send a photograph of the approach and the last two hundred metres with your enquiry, and the transfer stage can be priced properly rather than discovered.
It is a question for a solicitor, but worth knowing before you plan a shipment. Tyrol and Salzburg both restrict recreational use of housing, and many resort municipalities have reached their quota so no new permits are issued. The restriction attaches to the property, and applies to Austrian and EU owners too.
