Als is joined to the south Jutland mainland by road bridge, so a delivery lorry drives straight across with no ferry and no booking. And because Sonderborg sits in the far south, close to the German border, it is one of the first Danish cities a lorry reaches after crossing. No Little Belt bridge, no Great Belt bridge, no toll crossing of any kind on the way in.
The route is the standard continental one: Channel crossing by Eurotunnel or a Dover ferry, then through Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany, over the border and east onto Als.
For sea freight there is no local container port, so goods route through Esbjerg or Fredericia and finish by road. The DFDS Immingham to Esbjerg freight ferry works well here, six sailings a week at around 18 and a half hours, with a short drive south east from the port.
