The survey. Either a home visit or a video call, so the mover can see the volume and the access rather than working from a list you typed. This is where accurate pricing comes from.
Packing. Full packing means the crew does everything. Part packing usually means they do the fragile items and you do the rest. Full packing costs more up front and almost always saves grief, particularly for a long international move.
Dismantling and reassembly. Beds, wardrobes and flat-pack furniture that will not survive being moved intact. Confirm what is included, because it is a common gap.
Loading and transport. Either a dedicated vehicle for your household alone, or shared container space if you can wait.
Customs documentation. The carrier files the clearance declaration. You handle your own personal property declaration separately.
Delivery and placement. Getting things into the right rooms rather than stacked in the hall.
Insurance. Check the cover limits per item, not just the total. A piano or a painting will exceed a standard per-item cap.

Volume. Measured in cubic metres or cubic feet. A one bedroom flat and a four bedroom house are not in the same bracket, and everything else adjusts around this figure.
Dedicated or shared. A dedicated vehicle goes when you want and arrives when it arrives. Shared container space costs less and waits for other consignments heading the same way. If you have a fixed completion date, dedicated is usually the only realistic option.
Which side of the Great Belt. Copenhagen, Frederiksberg, Roskilde and the rest of Zealand sit beyond a toll bridge. Aarhus, Aalborg, Esbjerg, Kolding and the rest of Jutland do not. Odense on Funen needs the Little Belt only, which is the cheaper crossing.
Access at both ends. The most underestimated factor. No lift in a Copenhagen block means an external hoist. A narrow street means a relay vehicle. A gravel drive in Gentofte means parking on the road and shuttling. Every one of those adds crew hours.
Packing level. Full packing adds cost and adds days at the collection end, so it affects the schedule as well as the price.

Danish housing varies enormously by area, and a mover who has not asked about access has not really quoted you.
Older city apartment blocks. Common in central Copenhagen, Frederiksberg and inner Aarhus. Many pre-war blocks have no lift, or a small original lift that will not take a sofa or a wardrobe. An external hoist through a window is standard practice and needs booking in advance. Tell the mover your floor number and whether there is a lift at enquiry stage.
Historic town centres. Roskilde, Koge, Helsingor and central Aarhus have narrow streets, some cobbled, some pedestrianised during the day. A smaller relay vehicle from a nearby loading point is often the only route in. In Koge, the timber-framed buildings also limit what can physically go up a staircase.
Detached villas. Gentofte, Horsholm and the wealthier coastal municipalities. The constraints are outdoors rather than indoors: gate width, driveway surface, tree clearance. Measure the gate before the survey.
Suburban housing. Most of Greater Copenhagen's outer municipalities and most Jutland towns. Usually straightforward, with driveway or kerbside parking.
Permits. Denmark has 98 municipalities and holding road space with a removal lorry is a local matter, not a national one. Frederiksberg, Gentofte, Tarnby and Hvidovre each set their own rules separately from Copenhagen. A permit arranged with the wrong council is no permit at all.
Since Brexit the UK sits outside the EU, so a household move from Britain needs Danish customs clearance. The authority is Toldstyrelsen, the Danish Customs Agency, not SKAT, which handles tax.
You can usually bring belongings in without paying duty or the 25% Danish VAT, known as moms, but every one of these conditions must be met:
