Roskilde sits about half an hour west of Copenhagen on Zealand, so the route in is the same as the capital's: Channel crossing, then through Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany, up through Jutland, over the Little Belt onto Funen and the Great Belt onto Zealand.

Roskilde is a comfortable city to move into, with one clearly defined difficult area.
The old quarter around the cathedral is protected. Streets are narrow, some cobbled, and the buildings are old with the access limitations that implies. Lifts should not be assumed. A relay vehicle from a nearby loading point is the normal approach for addresses in that quarter, and an upper floor may need a hoist.
