Danish universities start their academic year at roughly the same moment, and the effect on moving is severe.
Late August into early September is the pinch. Aarhus, Copenhagen, Odense, Aalborg, Roskilde and Lyngby all fill at once. Local movers are booked, student housing is at maximum turnover, access to shared blocks is harder because everyone is moving in on the same days, and lifts in halls of residence are permanently occupied.
Three practical consequences.
Book early. Weeks, not days. A consolidated load leaving in mid August has to be arranged in July.
Or move outside the window. Shipping boxes a fortnight early to arrive before the rush, and staying somewhere temporary for a few days, is frequently cheaper and always calmer.
Ask about storage at the Danish end. If your accommodation is not available until a fixed date but your goods can arrive earlier, short-term storage bridges the gap and takes the pressure off the timing.
This one is genuinely useful and almost nobody knows it.

Going back to the UK afterwards, students get a shortcut. If you are coming to the UK for a period of full-time study, you do not need to complete a ToR1 form. Your agent declares the goods to customs procedure code 40 00 C06, and you submit evidence of your period of study with the entry.
That removes the single most time-consuming piece of paperwork on the return journey, and it removes the risk of goods arriving before an approval comes through. Make sure whoever handles the shipping knows to use that code rather than putting you through a ToR1 application you do not need.
Keep the evidence of your study period. Enrolment confirmation, a student card, a letter from the institution. You will need it at the border.
Coming the other way, into Denmark, the paperwork is the usual pair: the carrier files the customs clearance declaration and you separately complete a declaration of personal property, form 12.024, for Toldstyrelsen. If you do not qualify for residence relief, Danish moms is 25%.

The access picture differs enough between them to be worth knowing.
Copenhagen and Frederiksberg. The hardest. Older blocks, frequently no lift, narrow stairwells. If your room is on the fourth floor of a pre-war building, boxes are far easier than furniture, and an external hoist is expensive for a student budget.
Aarhus. Mixed. The old centre near the cathedral is tight and partly pedestrianised. The university district and newer harbourside developments are straightforward with proper access.
Odense. Mostly comfortable. The old quarter around the cathedral is the exception.
Aalborg. Generally easy, with the Limfjord as the only complication. Check which bank you are on.
Roskilde. Straightforward outside the protected cathedral quarter, but note the festival week in summer fills the whole city.
Lyngby. Comfortable, and heavily academic, so the late August effect is at its strongest here.
One route point that affects cost. Copenhagen, Frederiksberg, Roskilde and Lyngby all sit on Zealand, so a road delivery crosses the Little Belt and then the Great Belt bridge. Aarhus and Aalborg are on Jutland and need no crossing at all, reached straight up the E45. Odense sits on Funen and needs only the shorter Little Belt. If you are choosing between offers and cost matters, that is a real difference. The DFDS Immingham to Esbjerg freight ferry, six sailings a week at around 18 and a half hours, is the sea alternative, and Copenhagen Malmo Port handles container traffic for the capital.
The honest arithmetic on a student move usually points one way.
Ship. Books you actually need, clothes, anything with personal value, specialist equipment for your course, a decent duvet. Things that are expensive to replace or impossible to buy the same.
