Chiang Rai is the northernmost province, three hours beyond Chiang Mai and close to the Laos and Myanmar borders. It is quieter and cheaper than Chiang Mai, and the road leg is the longest in the country.
Shipments land at Laem Chabang and clear Thai customs there. The road leg is roughly 950 kilometres, about thirteen hours. Because the leg is so long, a Chiang Rai delivery is usually consolidated with a Chiang Mai run rather than sent as a standalone truck.
