Greece to Cyprus is the shortest crossing available from anywhere in Europe. Piraeus sits closer to Limassol than any other mainland port, and the two countries share a language, which removes a category of difficulty that costs time elsewhere.
Piraeus handles most of it, with Thessaloniki serving the north. The sea leg is short enough that the collection and the clearance often take longer than the sailing itself.
From Athens the domestic leg is nothing. From Thessaloniki it is around 500 kilometres south to Piraeus, or the northern port is used instead. Patras serves the west and the Peloponnese.
Limassol is the arrival point, with up to about 100 kilometres of road beyond it to Paphos, Larnaca, Nicosia or the eastern free areas.
