Tala sits about 250 metres above sea level in the hills behind Paphos, which buys it cooler summer evenings and a view over the bay. It also buys a steep approach and a village centre laid out long before anyone owned a lorry.
The village has one of the highest proportions of British residents anywhere in Cyprus, most of them retired. The old centre around the square and the monastery is compact and traditional. The developments around it, including Kamares Village, are newer and more spacious.
Paphos town is roughly seven kilometres downhill, so it is close enough for everything practical without being in it. Emba and Mesogi sit between the two, and Tsada is further up the same road.
Goods clear at Limassol and travel about 65 kilometres west, then climb the last stretch from the coast. That climb is short but it is the part that decides which vehicle can be used.
Relief on a household shipment comes from transferring your normal residence to Cyprus. Form Aπ. 2 is how it is claimed, with the six month ownership rule and the residence conditions sitting behind it.
For the full set of conditions, read the Cyprus customs and transfer of residence page. Check what applies today with the Department of Customs and Excise for the current position rather than a removals page.
The main road up from Paphos is fine for a large vehicle. The problem starts inside the old village, where lanes around the square and the monastery are too narrow for a rigid lorry and in places too narrow to turn a van.
For those addresses the goods are unloaded at a wider point and carried or shuttled in. It is a normal part of a Tala delivery and it should be in the quote, not raised on the morning.
Kamares Village and the newer developments on the slopes are a different picture: wide internal roads, driveways and room to work. If you are in one of those, say so, because the quote should reflect it.
Tala village, the square and monastery area, and the surrounding developments including Kamares. Tsada further up the road, with Stroumbi, Polemi, Koili and Kallepia beyond. Emba, Mesogi, Tremithousa and Konia downhill towards Paphos, and Chloraka and Lempa on the coast below. Paphos town is about seven kilometres away.
Collection address, delivery town, rough volume in cubic metres, move date and access notes at both ends.
The mover confirms the sailing, whether a part load or full container fits, the customs route and vehicle access.
A written quote, collection window, packing standard and delivery plan, direct from the company doing the work.
About four in ten enquiries here start outside the UK. One person searches removals, another searches relocation, a third searches moving companies. The wording changes; nothing behind it does.
The main road up from Paphos is fine for a large vehicle. The difficulty is inside the old village, where lanes around the square and the monastery are too narrow for a rigid lorry and sometimes too narrow to turn a van.
Goods are unloaded at a wider point nearby and carried or shuttled in with a smaller vehicle. It is a normal part of a Tala delivery, and it belongs in the written quote rather than being raised on the morning.
A lot. The newer developments on the slopes have wide internal roads, driveways and room to work. Tell the mover which part of Tala you are in, because the two are priced differently and should be.
About seven kilometres uphill from Paphos town, and roughly 65 kilometres west of Limassol where goods from the UK clear customs. The climb is short but it decides which vehicle can be used.
Yes. Tsada, Stroumbi, Polemi, Koili and Kallepia are on the same road and served on the same route. With the same narrow lane considerations in the older village centres.
Transfer of residence relief applies when Cyprus becomes your main home. A second or holiday home is treated differently and duty and VAT may be payable, so say which it is before the goods are declared.
