Movers working Ayia Napa moves

Ayia Napa is the busiest resort in Cyprus, and for a removal that matters more than anything about the roads. The streets are wide and modern. It is the calendar, not the tarmac, that decides how a delivery day here goes.

The permanent population is smaller than the summer one by a wide margin. A good share of the housing is holiday lets and second homes. With the year round residents spread inland through Sotira, Liopetri, Xylofagou and Avgorou rather than concentrated on the coast.

That mix matters at the customs stage. A high proportion of shipments here are furnishing a second home rather than moving a main residence. And the relief that applies to one does not apply to the other.

Goods clear at Limassol and travel about 90 kilometres east, past Dhekelia, on a road that is quick out of season and slow in it. Cape Greco, Nissi and Makronissos mark the coast either side of the town.

Quick answer: Outside June to September if you can. The resort core is congested from mid morning through the summer and a crew that would finish by lunchtime in October can lose half a day. A shoulder season date costs the same and runs better.

🚢 How a Ayia Napa move works
Step 1

Send the details once

An approximate inventory is enough. Name anything fragile, heavy or unusually valuable on its own line.

Step 2

The mover checks it over

Not a lookup against a postcode. Access, the road leg, the sailing and clearance are all checked first.

Step 3

You deal with the mover directly

Nothing is committed at the quote stage. Ask what sits outside the figure before agreeing.

📄 Customs and the documents behind it

Form Ap. 2 and what it does

Brexit moved the UK into the third country bracket for Cyprus customs. Used household effects still arrive free of duty and VAT where you are genuinely transferring your normal residence, claimed on form Aπ. 2 at any customs station.

The full conditions, including the vehicle rules, are on the Cyprus customs and transfer of residence page. These change from time to time, so confirm with the Department of Customs and Excise for the current position rather than a removals page.

🚚 Access at the delivery address

The season decides the day

Between June and September the resort core is congested from mid morning onwards. And a crew that would finish by lunchtime in October can lose half a day to it. If your date has any give in it, take it out of the peak.

Several complexes restrict delivery vehicles or delivery hours during the season, often to early morning only. That is set by the management company, not the mover, and it needs checking before the container is booked.

Outside the resort the picture is easy. Sotira, Liopetri, Avgorou and Xylofagou are village addresses with driveways and space, and a rigid lorry mostly reaches the door without a shuttle.

What to tell the mover

What to flag straight away

  • The delivery town, and whether it sits in the Republic or the north
  • Rough inventory, naming anything fragile, heavy or high value
  • Parking, stairs, lifts, gates, long carry and narrow road details
  • Preferred move date and any fixed deadline
  • Whether this is your main home or a holiday home
  • The insurance level you want on the shipment

Roughly forty per cent of the people using this service are not in Britain. What Britain calls removals, much of the world calls relocation or moving. Different words, identical work.

📍 Cyprus destinations covered

Areas covered from Ayia Napa

Ayia Napa town, Nissi, Makronissos and Cape Greco on the coast. Sotira, Liopetri, Xylofagou, Avgorou, Frenaros and Vrysoulles inland. Protaras, Pernera and Kapparis round to the north east, with Paralimni above them. Deliveries towards Xylofagou and Ormideia run close to the Dhekelia boundary, so the crossing is worth confirming.

Common questions

When should I schedule a delivery to Ayia Napa?

Outside June to September if you can. The resort core is congested from mid morning through the summer and a crew that would finish by lunchtime in October can lose half a day. A shoulder season date costs the same and runs better.

Do complexes restrict delivery vehicles?

Several do during the season, sometimes to early morning only. The management company sets that, not the moving company, so check it before the container is booked rather than after it has sailed.

I am furnishing a holiday let. Does customs relief apply?

Usually not. Transfer of residence relief applies when Cyprus becomes your main home. A holiday let or second home is a different case and duty and VAT may be payable, so tell the mover which it is.

How far is Ayia Napa from the port?

About 90 kilometres east of Limassol, past Dhekelia. Out of season that is a straightforward run. In August it is not, which is the main reason to move the date rather than the service.

Is delivery easier in the inland villages?

Mostly yes. Sotira, Liopetri, Avgorou and Xylofagou have driveways and space, and a rigid lorry usually reaches the door without a shuttle. The resort core is the harder address, not the countryside.

Can I ship just a few rooms of furniture?

Yes, that is the usual shipment here. Part loads share container space and suit anything under about fifteen cubic metres, which covers most holiday home fit-outs.

Tell a mover what you need moved

Where it is going from, where it is going to, when, and roughly how much there is. A moving company reviews the detail and replies with a written quote.
