What movers check before quoting published price ranges

These figures are market information, not a quote. IRC does not set the price; the mover you are put in touch with does. What follows is what three named UK movers publish for this service, with the arithmetic shown so you can see how the average was reached.

Every figure below is averaged from published prices at PSS International Removals, 1st Move International and Pinnacle Removals, checked on 7 August 2026. Where only two sources publish a figure, it is given as a range rather than averaged.

The single most useful number on this page is not the average. It is the gap between the lowest and the highest quote for the same job, because that gap is what you are actually negotiating inside.

Coverage runs to the whole Republic: goods clear at Limassol, then travel to Paphos, Larnaca, Nicosia or the Famagusta free areas, a road leg of up to about 100 kilometres.

Quick answer: Averaged from PSS International Removals, 1st Move International and Pinnacle Removals in August 2026, a three bedroom house in a 20ft container runs about £4,092. The published spread is £3,390 to £4,500, and that gap matters more than the average.

● Three bedroom house, 20ft dedicated container

Three bedroom house, 20ft dedicated container

PSS International Removals publishes £4,385. 1st Move International publishes £3,390. Pinnacle Removals publishes from £4,500.

The arithmetic: (4,385 + 3,390 + 4,500) ÷ 3 = £4,092.

The spread is £3,390 to £4,500. That is a gap of £1,110, or a third of the lower figure, for what all three describe as the same job. Neither end is wrong. They are pricing different levels of packing, different collection areas and different assumptions about access, and none of that is visible in a headline number.

This is why one quote tells you almost nothing and why a written scope tells you almost everything.

● Shared container, part load

Shared container, part load

PSS publishes £1,427 for a shared container. 1st Move publishes a range of £800 to £1,500, midpoint £1,150. Pinnacle publishes around £1,500 for a part load.

The arithmetic: (1,427 + 1,150 + 1,500) ÷ 3 = £1,359, on a published spread of £800 to £1,500.

A shared container is the usual choice below roughly fifteen cubic metres, and the saving against a dedicated container is real. What it costs you is waiting time rather than money.

● Boxes and very small shipments

Boxes and very small shipments

Only PSS publishes per-box pricing, so this is attributed rather than averaged. PSS: £265 for five boxes, £470 for ten.

1st Move states an overall route range starting at £380. Pinnacle starts a small move at around £625.

Calling that an average would be misleading, because the three are measuring different things. Five boxes and a small move are not the same shipment.

● Four bedroom house, 40ft container

Four bedroom house, 40ft container

Two sources publish a figure, so this is a range and not an average. PSS: £6,945. 1st Move: around £6,495.

Range: £6,495 to £6,945. The two are close, which is worth noting in itself. Agreement narrows as shipments get larger and more standardised.

● Timings, and why two sources look like they disagree

Timings, and why two sources look like they disagree

1st Move publishes a sailing time of 16 days from the UK to Limassol. PSS publishes 2 to 4 weeks for a full container, 4 to 8 weeks for a shared container, and 3 to 7 days for air freight.

Those are not contradictory figures. One is the boat. The other is the whole job: collection, the wait for a shared container to fill, the sailing, clearance and delivery. The gap between 16 days and 8 weeks is almost entirely the wait for the container to fill.

When a mover quotes you a time, ask which of the two they are quoting. It is the most common misunderstanding on this move.

● What is usually charged on top

What is usually charged on top

1st Move publishes packing at £300 to £400 for a three bedroom home. Beyond that, the items that most often sit outside a headline figure are marine insurance, customs clearance where it is not included, waiting time, a shuttle where a large vehicle cannot reach the property, long carries, and storage if your dates slip.

None of those are hidden charges when they are stated in the quote. Ask which apply to your address before you set one figure against another.

❓ Answers to the usual questions

How much does it cost to move to Cyprus from the UK?

Averaged from PSS International Removals, 1st Move International and Pinnacle Removals in August 2026, a three bedroom house in a 20ft container runs about £4,092. The published spread is £3,390 to £4,500, and that gap matters more than the average.

Why do quotes for the same move differ by a third?

Because a headline figure hides the scope. The three sources are pricing different levels of packing, different collection areas and different assumptions about access. A written scope tells you far more than a single number.

What does a shared container to Cyprus cost?

The three sources average about £1,359, on a published spread of £800 to £1,500. A shared container is the usual choice below roughly fifteen cubic metres, and what it costs you against a dedicated container is waiting time rather than money.

How much to send just a few boxes?

PSS publishes £265 for five boxes and £470 for ten. 1st Move starts its overall route range at £380 and Pinnacle starts a small move at around £625. These measure different things, so they are quoted separately rather than averaged.

What does a 40ft container cost?

Two sources publish a figure: PSS at £6,945 and 1st Move at around £6,495. That is a range of £6,495 to £6,945. Agreement between movers narrows as shipments get larger and more standardised.

Why does one mover say 16 days and another says 8 weeks?

They are quoting different things. Sixteen days is the sailing. Four to eight weeks is the whole job including the wait for a shared container to fill, clearance and delivery. Ask which one you have been given.

What gets charged on top of the quote?

Packing runs about £300 to £400 for a three bedroom home. Marine insurance, customs clearance where not included, waiting time, a shuttle to properties a lorry cannot reach, long carries and storage are the usual additions.

Are these prices a quote?

No. They are market information gathered from three named movers and dated. IRC does not set prices. The mover you are put in touch with quotes after checking your move, volume, access and dates.

🌐 Wording that varies by country

Removals here, relocation elsewhere

Close to half the enquiries on this service come from abroad. Removals, relocation, shipping and international movers all describe one job. One service, whichever name brought you here.

One cost is missing from every figure above, because it depends entirely on you: duty. Relief applies when Cyprus becomes your main home. Furnishing a holiday home is a different case and duty and VAT may be payable on the goods. That can change the total more than any difference between movers. Check the current rules with the Republic of Cyprus Department of Customs and Excise and GOV.UK rather than any removals page.
