Kyrenia is in Northern Cyprus, and that changes the whole shape of the move. A quote built on a Limassol sailing is the wrong quote for a Kyrenia delivery. And it is the mistake people most often discover after they have booked.
Household goods mostly do not arrive at Limassol. The route comes in through Famagusta, and Kyrenia sits about 70 kilometres west of there, a little over an hour by road. How that route works, and the customs regime behind it, is set out on the moving to Northern Cyprus page.
The UK to Turkey leg is the long part of the journey and the Mersin crossing itself is short, often overnight. Total door to door time still runs into weeks rather than days, and the paperwork and the price differ from a move to Paphos or Larnaca. It is not more difficult, but it is different. And a mover who has not handled the journey before will price it as though it were the same island.
Kyrenia has a long established British community, with the British Residents Society and English language schooling in the town. The surrounding belt of Alsancak, Lapta, Catalkoy, Bellapais, Ozankoy and Esentepe carries a good share of it. And Iskele and Long Beach on the east coast have grown fast.
The Republic of Cyprus Department of Customs and Excise grants relief on used personal property when you transfer your normal residence from outside the EU. Form Aπ. 2 is the paperwork, and the inventory it carries is what the relief is granted against.
The conditions in full are set out on the Cyprus customs and transfer of residence page. Because the rules move, check the current position with the Department of Customs and Excise for the current position rather than a removals page.
Kyrenia town and harbour, with Ozankoy, Catalkoy, Bellapais, Zeytinlik and Karmi right behind it. Alsancak, Lapta, Karsiyaka, Edremit and Kayalar west along the coast. Esentepe, Bahceli, Tatlisu and Arapkoy to the east. Iskele, Long Beach, Bogaz and Bafra further round the coast, and Guzelyurt to the west. North Nicosia and Famagusta city are covered on the same route.
Collection address, delivery town, rough volume in cubic metres, move date and access notes at both ends.
The mover confirms the sailing, whether a part load or full container fits, the customs route and vehicle access.
A written quote, collection window, packing standard and delivery plan, direct from the company doing the work.
Close to half the enquiries on this service come from abroad. Ask for a removal firm or ask for international movers; both reach the same place. Nothing about the service depends on which word you used.
Mostly not. The route comes in through Famagusta, about 70 kilometres east of Kyrenia. A quote based on a Limassol sailing is priced for a different journey, so check which one you have been given.
It is priced differently rather than automatically higher. The routing, the customs regime and the transit time all differ from a move to the Republic. So a figure from one does not transfer to the other. Ask the mover to show what the crossing actually involves.
Not the same rules as the Republic. Form Ap. 2 and EU transfer of residence relief do not apply to a Kyrenia delivery. The mover should tell you exactly what is needed before collection.
Often not. Access roads above Bellapais, Ozankoy and Catalkoy are steep and sometimes unmade. Goods are shuttled up with a smaller vehicle, which on a full house move can mean several runs and should be in the written quote.
Kyrenia and its belt from Karsiyaka and Lapta in the west through to Esentepe and Tatlisu in the east, plus Iskele, Long Beach, Bogaz, Guzelyurt, North Nicosia and Famagusta city.
Earlier than for a move to the Republic. There are fewer sailings on this journey, so the calendar is tighter and a part load can wait longer for space. Give the mover as much notice as you can.
The collection and delivery addresses, your date, and a rough idea of the volume. A vetted international mover works it through and contacts you.
