International movers carry a container across the world and something arrives broken. You are jet lagged, movers and packers are working round you, boxes are everywhere and nobody wants a scene. So the note gets signed clean, the carton gets opened three days later, and by then the strongest thing you had is gone.
What we do is narrow. We match enquiries and run no vehicles. Overseas removals go to accredited international removal companies within AGM Group, and one overseas moving company that covers your route comes back with a price.
Cresswell is a small place at the south end of Druridge Bay, reached off the A1068 and an easy removal for moving companies to collect. The interesting part of a move from here happens thousands of miles away, on the morning the container is unloaded.
An hour of care on that morning is worth more than any argument with overseas movers afterwards.
That sheet is the record of what condition a removal company handed your goods over in. A clean signature says everything arrived fine, and undoing that later means arguing against your own handwriting.
"Carton 47 crushed, contents unchecked" beats "some damage". A vague note is close to no note at all.
Sealed cartons stay unchecked for days. Write "contents not inspected" so nothing is taken as accepted.
Photograph the signed sheet before the crew leaves with it. Copies go missing and yours is the one that matters.
Movers and packers numbered every carton at your old house. Missing items are far easier to chase on the day than a week later.
Your international moving company works to a window for notifying damage, set by the policy and the carriage terms, and it is usually measured in days from delivery. Miss it and a perfectly genuine claim can be declined on that ground alone, whatever the merits.
Email the removal company the same day, even a rough note. It does not need to be the full claim, just a dated record that you raised it. Detail and valuations can follow once the cartons are open.
Then keep the packaging. A crushed carton with its original wrapping is evidence of how the damage happened, and international movers assessing the claim will ask for exactly that.

Declare honestly. Under declaring to save a little on the premium means every settlement is scaled down to match, which is a poor trade on a container of belongings.

Every removals claim traces back to that list. An item described vaguely and valued roughly is settled vaguely and roughly, and nobody at the far end can improve it for you after the event.
Give valuable things their own line with a make, a model and a figure. Photograph them before they are wrapped, because a dated picture of an undamaged item is worth more than any description written afterwards.
