Cargo for Grenada sails to the Port of St George's, the country's main port, run by the Grenada Ports Authority on the sheltered Carenage harbour. If you're a returning national, a Grenadian coming home to live, the Welcome Home Programme lets you bring used household and personal effects in free of duty, VAT and the service charge, up to a value of 75,000 East Caribbean dollars, plus a 50 per cent concession on one vehicle. It's arranged through the Returning Nationals Facilitation Bureau at the Ministry of Finance, with the claim made within three months either side of your return, and there's no concession on vehicles five years or older. For other shipments, goods may attract import duty under the CARICOM tariff, which varies by item, plus VAT at 15% and a 6% customs service charge on the landed value, with an environmental levy on vehicles and white goods.
