Shenyang is the largest city in north east China and it has a port most quotes forget about. Dalian is the obvious answer and it is four hundred kilometres away. Yingkou is half that distance, and if your mover has not mentioned it, they may not have looked.

The port question here is the one most worth asking, because the obvious answer is not always the best one.
Dalian is the north east's main container gateway and the default on most quotes. It sits about four hundred kilometres south at the tip of the Liaodong peninsula, and it has the widest sailing choice from northern Europe.
Yingkou, on the Bohai coast about two hundred kilometres south west, is a substantial port in its own right and considerably closer. Sailing frequency is lower, so it will not always suit, but where a service works the road leg halves. It is worth asking about specifically, because it does not always appear unprompted.
Rail from Europe reaches Shenyang and clears inland, which puts the paperwork and the address in the same city. Transit is faster than sea and costs more per cubic metre.
Whichever route applies, the road leg north runs on good expressway across the Liaoning plain. In winter that road is treated and generally open, but heavy snow does close sections, so a January delivery carries a contingency risk that a September one does not.
Shenyang divides between a heavy industrial past and a planned southern expansion, with a conservation core in the middle.
Hunnan, the southern new district, is where most international residents now live. It was planned from open ground with wide roads, modern compounds, service lifts and the international schools. Access is excellent and it is comfortably the easiest delivery in the city.
Heping, the central district, holds much of the older established international housing along with commercial and government offices. Conventional mid and high rise, lifts common, streets wide by Chinese standards because of how the city was laid out.
Shenhe, the historic district, contains the Qing palace and the conservation area around it. Building height and construction are constrained nearby and some streets are restricted, so an address adjoining it needs checking rather than assuming.
Tiexi, in the west, was the heavy industrial heartland and is now substantially regenerated. Old workers' housing sits alongside new development, so access varies sharply from block to block. Roads throughout are wide, having been built for industrial traffic.
The German automotive presence is worth mentioning. A long standing joint venture manufactures here at scale, which has built a substantial German speaking community and, usefully, a local moving trade thoroughly familiar with European export standards and paperwork.
Winter is the dominant practical fact. From December through March temperatures sit well below freezing for weeks at a time. Crews work shorter days, ice makes barrows unusable on any slope, and a delivery that takes six hours in September takes eight or nine in February. Plan around it if you possibly can.
Shenyang prices in the middle of the inland range, and the two levers are the port and the month. A Yingkou routing in autumn and a Dalian routing in February can differ by more than most people expect for the same volume.

Sea shipments clear at Yingkou or Dalian. Rail freight clears inland at Shenyang, which puts the paperwork in the same city as your address. You need a valid residence permit, a full valued inventory and your passport details.

For Britain, apply for Transfer of Residence relief with HMRC before the goods leave. Liaoning has an antique trade in Qing and Republican era pieces, and the region's particular history means Japanese occupation period items also circulate. Anything from before 1949 needs an export certificate, so have older pieces assessed early.
