Nothing on an international removal goes wrong on collection day. It goes wrong six weeks earlier, when a licence was not applied for, a visa was not confirmed or the loft was never opened. By the morning itself, the outcome is already decided.
What we do is match. No vehicles of our own. Details of your overseas removals reach accredited international removals companies inside AGM Group, and the international moving company suited to your route replies with a single figure.
Ludgershall sits hard against the Hampshire border, so overseas movers here quite often collect from addresses in two counties. That is worth flagging on the enquiry, and it is not what makes or breaks a move. Timing is.
Everything else can be compressed. These three cannot.
This is the shape of a removal that runs calmly. Compress it where you must, and know which compressions cost money and which only cost sleep.
| When | What happens | Why then |
|---|---|---|
| 12 weeks | Confirm the visa or residence position | Everything else hangs off this and nothing else can start. |
| 10 weeks | Surveys booked, quotes compared on volume | Good movers are committed early in summer. |
| 8 weeks | Mover chosen, date held, deposit paid | You still have a choice of days at this point. |
| 8 weeks | Start selling what you are not shipping | Sell early and things fetch what they are worth. |
| 6 weeks | Apply for any licence on restricted items | These take weeks and cannot be hurried. |
| 4 weeks | Write the valued inventory, room by room | Customs and any claim both read this document. |
| 2 weeks | Clear paint, fuel, aerosols and gas | The waste site has queues and opening hours. |
| 1 week | Clean garden and outdoor equipment | It must be bone dry when it is loaded. |
| Collection | Sign the inventory and keep your copy | It is the record of what left the house. |
For a moving company, collection is roughly the halfway point, not the end. International movers take goods to a depot, where they wait for a container, get stuffed and sealed, then wait again for a vessel. Sailing times vary enormously by route, from a week or two into Europe to as much as ten to a New Zealand address.
Ask any overseas moving company for the expected delivery week at booking, not the sailing date. The sailing is a shipping milestone; the delivery week is the answer to the question you actually have.
Where you are following the goods immediately, say so, because the answer may be a sole use container or a small air consignment ahead of the sea shipment.
Bands from what removal companies quoted on Ludgershall collections in the year to August 2026. None is an offer. The right hand column is roughly where the same job lands booked inside four weeks in summer.
| Household | Booked in good time | Booked late, in season |
|---|---|---|
| A part load | £850 to £1,500 | £1,070 to £1,800 |
| Two bedrooms | £1,560 to £2,710 | £1,960 to £3,190 |
| Three bedrooms | £4,420 to £5,790 | £5,100 to £6,560 |
| Four bedrooms | £7,030 to £9,910 | £8,090 to £11,310 |
Where addresses fall on both sides of the Hampshire border, ask for the second collection as its own line. It is usually modest and it should never be a surprise.

Twelve weeks is comfortable and eight is workable. Under four in summer means taking whatever slot and container space is left.
Visa confirmation, licences for restricted items, and selling what you are not shipping. Everything else can be compressed.
About four weeks out, once you have decided what stays. Writing it before the sorting is finished means writing it twice.
Ask for the expected delivery week instead. The sailing is a shipping milestone; the delivery week answers your actual question.
Yes, and it is common here because the border runs through the town. Ask for the second collection as its own line on the quote.
Only parking permissions, where a suspension is needed. Two councils means two applications, so start them together.
The visa or residence question belongs at week twelve, because it fixes the date. The export entry belongs at the other end, raised by your mover from the valued inventory once the load is settled.
In between sits anything needing a licence. Raise unusual items at the survey, not afterwards, because a licence application started at week two holds the container while it is processed.
Returning to Britain, the relief claim goes in before the vessel berths, on the conditions GOV.UK publishes. That deadline is fixed and it does not care how well you planned.
Andover is minutes away, Tidworth is next door, and Salisbury and Marlborough are close, so removal companies cover this corner of the county easily. International moving companies here work posting cycles constantly and the summer is busy.
Booked early, you compare three surveyed quotes on cubic metres and choose international movers on service. Booked late in July, the international removal companies with a gap in the diary take you. Same money, entirely different amount of choice.
Three questions finish the job. Who audits them and under which scheme. How many sailings a year they load for your country. And which firm, by name, unloads at the other end.
Planning ahead applies to money as well, since rates move over a twelve week window. We include access to currency exchange through trusted partners.
Next door, and what is actually yours to ship out of a quarter.
South west, and the everyday items no crew will load.
North, where school terms cluster the demand.
Shared space, closing dates, and how they fit a countdown.
What an entry needs, and when in the plan to gather it.
Limits and exclusions, settled before the deposit is paid.
Written and reviewed by International Removals Companies, working in international moving since 2010.
The countdown is a general guide to an international relocation and not a commitment. Lead times differ by route, season and service, licence processing is outside any mover's control, and a service move follows arrangements set by your own unit.
Every band shown was taken from what the network quoted between September 2025 and August 2026. The next review falls due a year from now.
Send the SP postcode, the destination, your date even if it is provisional, and a rough inventory. One vetted partner surveys it and tells you what has to happen in which week.
