Built around freight. For once the roads were designed with lorries in mind.
Pratteln sits on the flat Rhine plain east of Basel and is one of the country’s working freight towns, with rail yards and logistics sites taking a large share of its ground. That is unusual, and for a removal it is good news.
Swiss towns are usually difficult for a lorry, and for familiar reasons: medieval lanes, protected buildings, mountain roads, small lifts. Pratteln is the reverse case. This is a place built around moving goods, so the roads take heavy vehicles as a matter of course.
The residential parts sit around the freight infrastructure rather than through it, which means level ground, wide approaches, somewhere to stand and generally somewhere to turn. Nothing here needs a shuttle.
What the rail yards do affect is routing. The lines take a lot of ground and crossings are limited in places, so an address on one side is not always reachable by the way a map suggests from the other. Send the full street.

Roads designed for articulated lorries are roads a removal vehicle will have no difficulty with. Turning circles exist, approaches are wide, and nobody is surprised to see a large vehicle on a residential street.
The housing is largely twentieth century and later, so lifts are of a normal standard and stairwells were built when furniture was already the size it is now.
Parking permissions are still worth arranging in the denser residential parts, but the pressure is nothing like the Zurich lake shore or the Basel city districts.
Pratteln is in Basel-Landschaft with Muttenz and Allschwil, while Basel itself and Riehen are in Basel-Stadt. The two cantons interleave around the city and the registration procedures differ between them.
Geographically this is the eastern side of the Basel area, on the flat plain running along the Rhine towards Rheinfelden and the Fricktal beyond.
Everything is German speaking, the name is unambiguous, and the postcode settles the address.

The freight lines and yards run through the commune and take a considerable share of it. Crossings between the two sides are limited, so two addresses that look close together can require a long way round.
That is the only real navigation question in Pratteln, and it is solved by sending the full street address rather than the postcode. A driver with a street name will route correctly. A driver with a town name may not.
It also means that the shortest route between here and a neighbouring commune is not always the obvious one.

Very close. Basel sits on the border and Pratteln is a short run east along the plain, so the inland leg is among the shortest in Switzerland. Once a vehicle is through the Swiss frontier there is little left to do.
