New towers a street away from old village lanes. Which one are you in?
Lancy is one of the larger Geneva communes and it is currently being rebuilt in parts. New districts have gone up around the station while the old villages of Grand-Lancy and Petit-Lancy keep their original lanes, and a delivery to one is nothing like a delivery to the other.
The new development is a pleasure to work in. Blocks built in the last few years have loading areas designed into them, lifts sized for furniture, wide corridors and somewhere for a vehicle to stand that was drawn on a plan rather than found.
The old village cores are the opposite. Grand-Lancy and Petit-Lancy were villages before Geneva reached them, and their lanes are narrow with buildings that predate any thought of a removal lorry.
Because the redevelopment is recent, a street name alone may not tell a mover which of those they are dealing with. Say what the building is: a new block, or an older village property.
Lancy also appears as Grand-Lancy and Petit-Lancy. Whichever version you searched for, this is the same city and the same page. Give the mover the address exactly as it appears on your Swiss lease.
Where a district has gone up recently, street names and numbers can be newer than the mapping a driver is using. That is an occasional and avoidable nuisance rather than a serious problem.
Send the postcode and, if the building is new, the name of the development as well as the street. A crew heading for a road that a satellite navigation system has never heard of will otherwise lose half an hour.
Registration on arrival is with the commune of Lancy, not the city of Geneva, as it is for Carouge, Onex and Meyrin around the same city.

Deliveries there use a standing point agreed with the commune and a carry, which is the usual Swiss arrangement for an old core. The areas are small so the carries are short.

A relocation policy in American English says moving company where a British one says removal firm. The middle option, materials supplied for Lancy and you pack, exists under both names. What differs is the spelling, not the service. HHG on a manifest, household goods in a policy and removal goods on a British quote all mean your belongings.
