Malmö is where the overland route from the UK actually enters Sweden. The Öresund bridge carries traffic from Copenhagen straight into the city, and the toll is charged by vehicle length and type and paid on the Swedish side. For a delivery in Malmö itself that means the load arrives almost at the door after crossing.
Three European routes converge here. The E6 runs north up the west coast towards Gothenburg and Oslo, the E20 heads across country to Stockholm, and the E22 follows the south east coast towards Kalmar. Very little of Sweden is awkward to reach from Malmö, which is part of why so much freight is consolidated here.
The city itself is flat and mostly straightforward. The exception is Gamla Väster, the old western quarter, where the streets are narrow and cobbled and the buildings are low and old. Västra Hamnen at the other extreme is redeveloped dockland, purpose built this century, with service lifts and loading access designed in.
