Huizhou is where a great many Shenzhen households keep a second home, and where a smaller number decide to live full time once they have worked out what space costs an hour to the east. It is coastal, considerably cheaper, and the moves here divide neatly into two kinds.

Containers normally clear at Shenzhen, roughly a hundred kilometres south west, and drive in. Huizhou has port facilities of its own at Daya Bay serving the petrochemical industry there.
Huizhou sits east of Shenzhen and Dongguan on the coast, and for household goods it works as an extension of the Shenzhen port catchment. Containers clear at Yantian, which is the nearer of Shenzhen's terminals and conveniently on the eastern side of that city, then drive roughly ninety minutes east.
That routing is unusually clean. Yantian sits on the right side of Shenzhen for an eastbound delivery, so unlike a Dongguan or Zhongshan move there is no awkward cross city drive before the journey even starts.
Daya Bay has substantial port facilities of its own, built around the petrochemical industry that dominates the area. They handle industrial and bulk traffic rather than household containers, so they will not normally appear on your booking, though the infrastructure means the roads in that part of the municipality are built for heavy vehicles.
Guangzhou and Nansha are further and rarely the sensible choice for a Huizhou address.
Huizhou divides into three quite different places, and the move you get depends entirely on which one you are heading for.
Huicheng, the historic centre in the north, is a conventional Chinese city with a long history. It has its own West Lake, associated with the poet Su Dongpo who was exiled here, and a conservation area around it that constrains building and vehicle access on some approaches. Housing is mostly mid and high rise with lifts in the newer stock. The older lanes near the lake are tighter.
Huiyang, between Huicheng and the coast, is the fastest growing part of the municipality and is where most Shenzhen commuters and second home owners buy. Modern compounds, wide roads, service lifts, easy access. This is the straightforward delivery and where the majority of moves land.
Daya Bay and the coastal strip hold the petrochemical industry and, further along, the resort and second home development at Xunliao Bay and the beaches nearby. Access varies sharply. The industrial areas have excellent roads built for heavy vehicles. The coastal resort developments can be narrower, sometimes with height or vehicle restrictions inside the complex, and a few are genuinely awkward in the way seaside developments often are.
Huizhou also has a long Hakka presence, and the older villages in the interior include traditional enclosed dwellings. Very few people move house into them, but they are part of the landscape.
Typhoon exposure is direct here. The municipality faces the open sea rather than sitting up an estuary, so the June to September window is worth planning around.
Huizhou prices below Shenzhen for the same volume despite the longer drive, because delivery access is generally easier and labour costs less. The partial shipment question is what most often complicates a quote.

Clearance is at Shenzhen rather than Huizhou. You need a valid residence permit, a full valued inventory and your passport details. The Huizhou specific point is that personal effects relief assumes a transfer of residence, so a partial shipment to a second home should be discussed with your mover before it is booked.
