St Lucia drives on the left, so a UK car fits the roads perfectly. We connect you with one vetted partner who ships your car by container or roll-on roll-off and clears it at Port Castries. It's free to ask.
✅ The quick answer — Tell us the car and we connect you with one vetted partner. Free.
🇬🇧 UK cars suit — The island drives on the left, so right-hand-drive is ideal.
🚚 How you ship — Inside a container, alone or with your goods, or by roll-on roll-off.
📋 Returning home? — One vehicle can come in free of duty up to a set value.
📍 Where it clears — Port Castries, with a broker filing in ASYCUDA World.
There are two main ways to send a car to St Lucia. Inside a container is the most protected: the car is braced and secured in its own 20ft container, or it can share a 40ft with your household goods on a full home move, so nothing touches it on the crossing. Roll-on roll-off, where the car is driven on and off a vehicle ship, can be the lower-cost option for a car travelling on its own. The right choice depends on the car's value and whether it's moving with a home. A big plus: St Lucia drives on the left, so a UK right-hand-drive car suits the roads with no conversion.
A car is normally dutiable. Imported on its own, it attracts import duty, excise and VAT at 12.5%, worked out on its CIF value, the cost plus insurance and freight, and a customs service charge. The big exception is the returning-nationals concession: a St Lucian coming home to live can bring in one vehicle free of customs duty, as long as its CIF value is no more than US$30,000 (about EC$81,507). Above that, duty is charged on the excess. The car has to arrive within three months either side of your move, and you can't sell it for three years. A broker confirms exactly what applies to your vehicle.

Your vetted partner will ask for the car's registration documents (the V5C), proof of ownership and your ID, and these go to the broker for clearance at Port Castries. Before it sails, the car needs to be clean, with only a little fuel in the tank, no loose items inside and a spare key handed over. Your partner gives you a simple checklist. On arrival a broker clears the car in ASYCUDA World, and you collect it or have it delivered once any duty due is settled.
Shipping a car is often part of a bigger move that involves changing money too. The local currency is the East Caribbean dollar. For years we've connected customers with trusted partners who handle any currency, so the money side is simple and fair. It's offered through our partners, with no hidden fees.
