The stone that built Bern old town came from here. The quarry is long closed.
Ostermundigen sits immediately east of Bern and supplied the sandstone that the old town of the capital is built from. The quarrying stopped long ago and what is there now is a dense residential commune with an ordinary set of problems.
This is a compact, built up commune pressed against the Bern city edge, and it behaves accordingly. Streets are residential and parked, the housing is largely blocks rather than houses, and a vehicle needs somewhere arranged rather than found.
Compared with Köniz on the other side of the city, which spreads out into farmland, Ostermundigen is small and dense throughout. There is no rural half to it.
The compensation is that everything is close, the ground is largely level, and a crew is never far from where the lorry is standing.
Ostermundigen also appears as Bern agglomeration and Mundige. Whichever version you searched for, this is the same city and the same page. Give the mover the address exactly as it appears on your Swiss lease.

For a delivery today that is history rather than logistics. What it does explain is why the settlement is where it is, and why the ground rises on one side of the commune while the rest is flat.

Movers is the American noun. Removal company is the British one. Moving company sits in both. For a Ostermundigen move the category matters more than the label on it.
