A move from London to Canada goes by sea, in a container. Your things are collected from your address anywhere across the capital, then sail from a Thames or east-coast port. Plan for 4 to 8 weeks door to door. A few boxes start around £900. A big house can reach £14,000 or more. We'll connect you with one FIDI-certified London mover. They handle the packing, the shipping and the Canadian customs, and that part is free.

London sends more people abroad than anywhere else in the UK, and Canada is a firm favourite. The shipping is the same sea route used from any UK city. What makes a London move its own thing is getting the lorry to your door and loaded.
Movers collect from across Greater London, from the central boroughs to the outer suburbs inside the M25. A top-floor flat with no lift. A mansion block with a narrow stair. A Georgian terrace on a controlled parking street. Crews handle these every week. The trick is flagging the access at survey, so the right team and kit turn up.
Parking is the part people forget. Many boroughs want a parking suspension or dispensation booked for a removal lorry. Red routes allow no stopping at all. Your mover will tell you what your street needs, and can usually arrange it. Councils need notice, so it pays to start early.
We won't be lifting your boxes ourselves. We line your move up with one vetted, FIDI-certified firm, and they take it from there.
Being on the Thames, London has deep-sea ports close by. Your container is packed at your address, or at a depot. Then it's moved to the port for its Canada sailing.
On the Thames in Essex, a long-standing London gateway with regular deep-sea services.
A modern container port downriver, handy for east and south-east London moves.
The UK's biggest container port, in Suffolk, with the widest choice of sailings.
Your mover books the port and sailing that suit your shipment and your Canadian destination.
First, the container. Share one and your things travel with other shipments, called groupage or LCL. You pay for your space, which suits a London flat or a part load, but it waits to fill. Take a full container, or FCL, and it's yours alone, sealed at your door and quicker across.
Costs run from about £900 for a few boxes in shared space. A big house in its own container can reach £14,000 or more. London access, meaning lorry parking and carries from flats, nudges the local end up.
Canada sits outside the UK, so your goods are declared when they land. The form is the BSF186, lodged with the Canada Border Services Agency, the CBSA. Things you've owned and used for at least six months usually enter free of duty, as settler effects. New items, or anything sold within a year, can carry duty plus GST or HST.
Our Removals UK to Canada guide covers the container choice, the timeline and the full customs walkthrough in depth.
You set the level, and the crew does the rest. A London team can pack the whole flat, or just the breakables. They wrap everything for the sea and load your container. At the far end they clear Canadian customs, deliver and unpack. Storage in London or Canada bridges any gap between your dates. Cars, pianos and antiques travel with the handling they need.
Beyond the move itself, we've helped customers change money through trusted partners for years. Any currency, useful for deposits and bills in Canadian dollars. A full door-to-door service costs more but spares you the lifting. A part service trims the bill if you'd rather pack yourself.
A few things shape a move from the capital. London sends more people overseas than anywhere in the UK, so its movers know the drill. Central boroughs bring narrow streets, controlled parking zones and the odd conservation-area rule. Period conversions and mansion blocks often mean stairs, no lift and a long carry to the lorry. Older vehicles may meet the city's emissions and congestion charges.
None of it trips up a move with a bit of notice. That's the case for an early survey. The crew sees the access, books what it needs, and prices the job properly.
Sending your home across the Atlantic is a lot to trust to a stranger. The badge that matters is FIDI FAIM, the global benchmark for cross-border movers. An independent Ernst and Young audit checks it. BAR Overseas is the UK's own version. A firm with both has been vetted on its money, its training and the way it treats your goods.
That's the only kind of London mover we'll connect you with. International Removals Companies is not itself a removal company. We're a free service. We link your move with one FIDI-certified partner, and they handle it from survey to delivery. This has been our work since November 2010. Roughly £900 for a few boxes in a shared container. Up to £14,000 or more for a large London home. Access and lorry parking can nudge it. A mover confirms after a survey.
Often. Many boroughs want a parking suspension booked, and red routes have no stopping. Your mover advises and can arrange it, but councils need notice, so start early.
Usually Tilbury or London Gateway on the Thames, or Felixstowe in Suffolk. Your mover picks the port and sailing to suit your shipment.
About 4 to 8 weeks door to door. A full container is quicker at 4 to 7 weeks, a shared one 5 to 9. The crossing is most of the wait.
