There is no container and no sailing, because the Czech Republic is landlocked. Your car arrives by road on a transporter, in an enclosed trailer, or with somebody driving it. Any quote that mentions container rates or port handling has been copied from a different destination.
That matters because most car shipping advice online is written for sea freight. It talks about roll on roll off, port charges, marine insurance and sailing schedules. None of it applies here and following it will have you asking the wrong questions.
What you are actually buying is around a thousand kilometres of road haulage, plus a set of registration decisions at the far end that have nothing to do with the transport at all. This page separates the two, because they are usually quoted by different people.
The car travels on a multi-vehicle trailer, uncovered.
Cheapest of the three. The trade is a thousand kilometres of weather, road grit and whatever the vehicle above sheds. Fine for an everyday car, a poor idea for fresh paint.
Fully covered, often one or two vehicles only.
The right call for anything classic, modified, low, or worth more than the transport premium. Costs more and there are fewer vehicles doing it, so book earlier.

Cheapest on paper, and the option moving companies quote least often. Costs fuel, tolls, a crossing, at least one night somewhere, and puts a thousand kilometres on the odometer. Check the insurance position carefully if a third party drives.
A private vehicle can fall within personal property under Council Regulation (EC) No 1186/2009, subject to the same conditions as the rest of your household goods: normal home outside the EU for at least 12 continuous months, and owned and used for at least six months before you left.
It is not automatic and the evidence is more demanding than for furniture. If the car is valuable, or you bought it shortly before moving, confirm your position with the Customs Administration of the Czech Republic or a customs agent in writing before it is loaded.

Getting the car to a Czech address and making it legal to keep there are two different exercises, and no removal service handles the second. Budget time and money for it separately.
A right hand drive British car has beam patterns aimed to light the near side of a road you drive on the left. In a country that drives on the right, that beam points into oncoming traffic. Adjustment or beam deflectors are needed, and it is a test point rather than a courtesy.
Registering a vehicle locally brings a technical inspection into play, along with documentation proving ownership and the vehicle's history. Requirements change and vary by circumstance, so check the current position with the Czech authorities rather than relying on what a forum said two years ago.
Czech motorways require a valid vignette, now electronic and bought against the registration number rather than stuck to a windscreen. This applies from the first journey, not from the date you register. Sort it before you drive.
Ask before you book. Transport, headlight work, inspection and registration add up, and a right hand drive car is harder to sell in the Czech Republic than a left hand drive one. For an ordinary vehicle, selling in Britain and buying locally is often the better sum. For something you actually care about, it is not.
There is no container option to the Czech Republic, because the country is landlocked and has no port. Every vehicle arrives by road. It travels on a transporter, in an enclosed trailer, or somebody drives it. That is a genuine difference from a move to Australia or the United States and it changes how the job is priced.
An open transporter is the cheapest and exposes the car to weather and road grit for around a thousand kilometres. An enclosed trailer costs more and is the right call for anything valuable or classic. Driving it yourself costs fuel, tolls and your own time, and puts the mileage on the car.
Rarely on the same vehicle. Household removals and vehicle transport are different jobs with different equipment, and a household lorry is not a car transporter. Some movers will arrange both and coordinate the dates, which is worth asking for, but expect two prices and two vehicles.

Tell the DVLA the vehicle is being permanently exported and keep the relevant part of the V5C. Check your insurance covers the journey or the transporter's cover applies. If you are driving, make sure the car is roadworthy for a long continental run rather than a school commute.
