Zakynthos is not served from Piraeus. The working link is the short crossing from Kyllini on the west coast of the Peloponnese, which means a load bound for the island has to reach Kyllini first and then wait for a sailing with space for it.
That is two decisions rather than one, and it is why an island quote priced as a mainland delivery is understated rather than competitive.
The Kyllini crossing is short. What is not short is the wait if the sailing your load needs is full, which happens through the summer when passenger traffic takes the space. A delivery date on Zakynthos is really a sailing date with a drive attached to each end.
Ask whether the ferry space is booked or assumed. It is the single most useful question on an Ionian delivery and almost nobody asks it.
