Lefkada is joined to the mainland at Aktio by a causeway and a swing bridge. There is no ferry and no sailing to book, which makes it the simplest island in Greece to deliver to and the only one a lorry can drive onto.
The bridge does open to let vessels through, and when it does the traffic waits. On a delivery day that is an inconvenience rather than a problem, but it is worth the driver knowing.
